Akagera National Park

Located in the Eastern ends of Rwanda, bordering with Tanzania, Akagera National Park is the only Rwanda’s savannah park, stalked with a number of wildlife such as giraffe, Rhinos’, hyenas, zebras, waterbucks to mention but a few, including the Big Five, thus lions, elephants, leopards, rhino, and buffaloes.

The park has been recently stalked with lions and rhinos, which has increased the game drive experience to guests visiting the park.

Akagera National Park is also home to a number of birds, amphibians and reptiles, which can be encountered during game drives and boat cruises.

Number of accommodations do exist inside the park such as Mantis Akagera Game Lodge, Karenge Bush Camp, Ruzizi Tented Lodge and Magashi Camp.

Game drives can be done in both southern and northern park sections, though entrance is only done in the southern games, exclusive of those staying at Magashi Camp, who have access to the park, through the northern exit gate.

Akagera National park offers wonderful both night and day game drives. For the night game drive advance booking is highly recommended.

Scheduled boat trips are offered at Lake Ihema, by the park, from morning to evening, with a sun set boat at 4:30 pm, being the last boat. All boat rides take an hour, and offer a great aquatic life experience.

Those that love bird watching, over 450 bird species are recorded within the park, and you can enjoy a wonderful moment on your visit to Akagera National Park.
